Kippy Tomkin saw a need in her community in rural North Carolina and chose to dedicate her life to filling it. In 2009 she founded The Sanctuary Project in Magnolia, North Carolina. Originally founded as a Veterans’ charity, The Sanctuary Project assisted veterans by acting as a liaison with The Department of Veterans Affair, helping those that had served with finding housing, financial assistance, and medical care. In 2011, The Sanctuary Project moved down the highway to its current location in Wallace.
